Mia Habib


Mia Habib Productions is an international touring company based in Oslo, working at the intersection of performance, exhibitions, publications, lectures, teaching, mentoring and curating. Habib also engages in labs and research with a variety of specialists including artists, scientists, political activists and others. 

 Currently Habib is working on hew new piece A song to... for eighteen dancers, which premiers at Dance House Oslo (September 2015). An ongoing project, We Insist, will premiere her work with Jassem Hindi and Rani Nair called a stranger within in 2016.  

 Habib is touring her solo HEAD(S), her old solo Missing In Action, MONO for Kompani Haugesund and Julie Nioche’s piece MATTER. Among others she has worked with Guillherme Garrido, Rani Nair, Jassem Hindi, Timo Kreuser, Tommy Noonan, Monica Gillette, Ong Keng Sen, Brynjar Bandlien, Joanne Leighton, Petter Goldstine and Eva-Cecilie Rickardsen. 

 Her work is or has been co-produced by various houses such as Dance House Oslo, BIT-teatergarasjen, Black Box theatre, Carte Blanche, Theatre Freiburg (DE), MDT (SE), CCN Belfort (F), CND Pantin (F), deVIR CAPa-Faro (P), Göteborg Dans & Teater festival (SE), Riksteatern (SE).

 She is one of the initiators of Sweet & Tender Collaborations (2007) and a former member of the board of The Norwegian Opera and Ballet. In 2012 Habib was the curator, mentor and artistic director together with Iris Lana of “The New Dance Project 2012” (Machol Hadash) and “The Dance Arena festival” (Zirat Machol) at HaZira in Jerusalem. She sees the journey as an integral part of her work and has choreographed, danced and researched in several European countries as well as Mexico, Brazil, Israel, Palestine, Madagascar, Iraq, Turkey, Morocco, Syria and Malaysia. 

Habib holds an M.A in conflict resolution and mediation from Tel Aviv University (2011) and a B.A. in choreography from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2003).
